IYA-Pakistan

Interfaith Youth in Action (IYA) is the national World Faith Pakistan Chapter (WFP) in Lahore. IYA is officially recognized as a non-profit organization’s project in Pakistan and joined World Faith in 2009. IYA is a network of diverse young people committed to promote pluralism and mutual respect through interfaith dialogues and community service projects. IYA focus on grassroot projects that empower our local community and build understanding and harmony between different faith’s youth groups in Pakistan. By involving youth from all religions, either as volunteers or beneficiaries, IYA building bridges while conflict resolution and interfaith dialogue through action.
We have been implementing our various peace advocacy projects from 2009 mainly in Lahore, Faisalabad, Kasur and Islamabad. Solidarity has been one of the focal themes in promoting and advocating peace as a way of life.
The main objectives of the network is to raise awareness and promote peace and respect for other religions by providing a platform to interact, to dialogue and to building healthy relationships among diverse youth, discuss and understand reasons for youth participation in the midst of conflict and underscore measures that can be taken to stop their participation in such conflict.

Goals & Objectives
Long term goal:
To build the social co-existence and interfaith relationships of young people belonging to the Muslim majority and to the other religious
minorities in Pakistan on the basis of peace and harmony.
Short term goals:
To develop a network of young people belonging to various religions in order to set an example of interfaith friendship and relationship in Pakistani society.
To initiate discussion about the need for interfaith harmony and peaceful co-existence through the exposure of young people to one another’s religious and in social environment.
To mainstream efforts to promote interfaith dialogues, discussions and peace among Muslims and religious minorities.
Objectives:

- To empower youth leaders to shape society that is free from discrimination and bias and where all religious are respected & Protected.
- To explore the role of diversity in local communities for acceptance and peace building.
- To engage local and social media , promoting pluralism to counter divisive rhetoric.
- To explore and learn about each other and our faith traditions so as to remove misconceptions and misunderstanding.
- To share our knowledge and insights with others.
- To work together to achieve common goals in Pakistan.
- To support each other in times of difficulty.
